Dental DHMO

Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO)

Update: September 1, 2019

Effective September 1, 2019 Hertz is announcing a major enhancement for participants with children in the CIGNA DHMO plan.

Previously, enrolled children could see pediatric dentists until they reached the age of seven (7), at which time they were required to switch to a general dentist. As of September 1st this year, enrolled children may continue to see pediatric dentists until they reach age 13.

Dental DHMO Highlights

  • Access a network of dental providers who have agreed to offer their services at predetermined rates. The network is Cigna Dental Care Access Network.
  • You must choose a primary dentist in the DHMO network when you first enroll and go to this dentist when you need care. Each covered family member may select a different primary dentist.
  • Your primary dentist will provide all services, including referrals as needed to specialists such as endodontists or periodontists.
  • Orthodontia benefits are available for both children and adults.
  • You have no claim forms to file — your DHMO provider files them for you.
  • You pay a copay each time you receive services (except for preventive visits, which are covered in full with no copay).
  • No deductible or annual maximum benefit as long as you receive care through a participating dentist.
  • The DHMO generally does not pay for treatment by a non-DHMO dentist or for services not authorized by your primary dentist.
