In accordance with the Employer Shared Responsibility provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) healthcare reform law, our Transporters, Shuttlers and other Casual employees may be eligible for a SmartMEC Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) Preventive Care plan, paired with TransChoice Advance Limited Benefit Indemnity coverage.
The limited benefit indemnity plan pays clearly defined, fixed amounts to help you cover the cost of common medical services, like doctor’s visits, hospitalization, intensive care, accidents, and more. The plan includes a pharmacy benefit as well. These plans are designed to help you get the most value for everyday health care expenses. There are two plans to choose from, both of which cover the same services but have different premium amounts.
Note: This is not basic health insurance or major medical coverage and is not designed to substitute for either coverage. These plans do not cover the cost of treatment for serious or chronic illnesses. The amount of coverage is limited, and you’ll be responsible for the cost of many healthcare-related services. The amounts listed in the benefits materials on HertzBenefits.com/MECPlans are the amounts that will be paid to you to help offset your eligible healthcare costs, but once you reach the coverage limit, you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
Also, if you choose to enroll in one of these plans, you may not be eligible for a Marketplace (or “Exchange”) premium tax credit (called a “subsidy”). If you do not enroll, you may still be entitled to a subsidy through the Marketplace. For more information, go to healthcare.gov.
