What you need to know

Qualifying Life Events

When an employee has a major life event (such as marriage, divorce, having a baby, loss/gain of alternate coverage), this may impact their benefits coverage. Click here for a list of events.

  1. Benefit changes are completed online by visiting HertzBenefits.com
  2. Changes must be submitted no later than 31 days from the date of the major life event
  3. Supporting documentation must accompany all benefit changes

Annual Open Enrollment

Every year, open enrollment is a window during which employees may add, drop or make changes to their coverage.

  1. Only occurs once a year, during the first 2-3 weeks in May
  2. All benefits eligible employees are welcome to participate
  3. All changes to benefits will go into effect July 1, the beginning of the benefits plan year

Appeals

If employees miss an opportunity to make changes to benefits, they have an opportunity to submit an appeal if they believe an extenuating circumstance prevented them from completing the change in a timely manner. Employees will reach out to a Hertz Benefits Specialist to review the appeal process and download the official form. Hertz Benefits Specialists are available Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT) by calling 800-654-3373, option 3. Appeal forms are to be sent to HRBenefits@hertz.com for review. Appeals may take up to 30 days for processing.
