If you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement that has not provided for participation in all or some of the benefits provided as part of the Hertz Custom Benefit Program, certain portions of the content on this website, including the eGuide, will not apply to you. Please refer to your labor agreement or contact your Human Resource Business Partner for further information about the benefits available to you and any limitations or restrictions on eligibility. 

Your new hire checklist.

You’ve got a lot to do when you start a new job. Here’s a benefits checklist to help you keep everything straight. You can also use the calculator below to determine your enrollment deadline.

  • Make sure you have your dependents' Social Security numbers handy as they are required to enroll your dependents.

  • Confirm your elections. Save your confirmation statement at the end of the enrollment process, review it, and keep it for your records. This is your proof of enrollment.

Enrollment Deadline and Effective Date Calculator*

You have 60 days from your date of hire to enroll in or waive coverage. This tool will help you determine your enrollment deadline and when your coverage will begin.

*Note: This calculator is for mainland employees only - it does not apply employees in Hawaii. If you live in Hawaii, see the Hawaii-specific pages on this site for your enrollment and benefits effective dates.

When Your Coverage Begins*

Anyone hired on or after April 1, 2018, has the option to enroll in medical, dental, and vision coverage on your date of hire (Day 1 Coverage). Or you can choose the standard coverage option and enroll in all benefits on the first of the month following 60 days (Standard Coverage). You select an option when you enroll.

*If you live in Hawaii, this does not apply to you. Your benefits will start on the first of the month after four consecutive weeks. You are not eligible for Day 1 Coverage.

Day 1 Coverage
  • Coverage begins on first day of hire (day 1)
  • Can enroll in medical, dental, and vision coverage for day 1
  • All other benefits begin on the first of the month following 60 days
  • You pay 100% of benefit premiums until the first of the month following 60 days
  • Thereafter, you pay the Hertz subsidized premiums
  • To sign up for Day 1 coverage, you must call AskHR at 1-800-654-3373
Standard Coverage
  • Coverage begins on the first of the month after 60 days
  • Can enroll in all benefits
  • You pay the Hertz subsidized premiums
